Joanie: Where is she? Rick: In the living room. Joanie: Oh, Rick, I knew this was going to have to happen sooner or later. I'm so ashamed... Do you think she hates me? Rick: I don't know. I guess she'd have good reason. Joanie: You're mad at me, too, aren't you, Rick? Rick: Me? Not at all. Look, I'm planning dinner. Got any others?

As she was honest with him?

Well, when you hide the fact that you have children, maybe they have a reason to. In any case, I wasn’t asking if she was honest, I was asking if he was as supportive as she was honest. More of a rhetorical question.

We will go over to some immigrant friends later to celebrate Thanksgiving. They don’t have great jobs but they have a house, a car, and two highly civilized kids. They are very grateful.

I would offer this day’s strip as a response to all those who, in the days leading up to today, have vilified GT as approving of Joanie’s past actions.

Not sure what part of society your referring to that tolerates lying, but it is completely despised, no matter what reason around here.

@Night-Gaunt49Joanie’s behavior is completely unacceptable. You do not hide something like that from the person you love, are living with and plan to spend the rest of your life with. Yes, I’m being judgmental. But, it is by being judgmental that I determine who is deserving of my trust.

Today is the day for awkward family dinners. Unless you just stay home with the folks you usually hang out with anyway. Today I am thinking of the families who are victims of gun violence. We need to deal with our gun culture so that we don’t have so many such incidents in so many families. The good guys with a gun haven’t stopped these incidents. I think it is time to try a different approach. The cops know that a lot of average folks do have guns, therefore, they are taking a more and more defensive approach. The gun advocates have encouraged more folks to have guns. Glad to not be having this discussion with my gun advocate relatives. We are at home just taking it easy this holiday with the turkey..zzzz…

To Nigh-Gaunt49’s comment yesterday (“Not all the time and some get off and let others shoulder their horrors they left behind.”) in response to my comment, “Amen; as a society, we reap what we sow.” I was thinking about “society”, you were writing about individual actions. No matter how you slice it, if society condones or even encourages irresponsible behaviour by individuals, it is society that ends up with the problems. I think what we are seeing are the results of a long-term sociological “experiment”.
