Mike, shut up and appreciate what you have. You could still be stuck with J.J.Plus, Kim probably has daddy issues.

It could be the stars in the sky. It doesn’t snow that often in the Seattle area.

I love it – a little nuance in a long term, complex relationship. How refreshing from the tired cliches of Dagwood & Blondie, etc. Maybe Trudeau’s taking a cue from 9 Chickwood Lane, or vise versa. I’m in a similar place w my beautiful, smart, younger wife. “Daddy issues” – who doesn’t have them, who loved their father ?… Rock on, Gary!

That’s very true. Too bad so few of us understand that…

Reminds me that Ernest Borgnine was VERY briefly married to Ethel Merman. What a shame no children resulted.

Perhaps Mike’s a good listener, which might not be too common a trait, and is appreciated.

“There are no rules about releationships despite what some people want to think.”.It’s not a matter of rules, but of observation. Noting who marries whom, how the matings work out. Then you can apply guesses as to why.(Were it not for the hand of Gary Trudeau, Mike would remain single from the get-go.)Of course, simply looks aren’t in it since all women are beautiful and all men are doofuses, but there are other things they may have in common such as care for each other, cultural backgrounds, worldly or otherwise interests.(And some like fixer-uppers)

Poor Mike, he’s been dealing with this issue since the day Trudeau first created him.

Diogenes put out your lamp! At last! An agreeable wife. Maybe TOO agreeable. Can’t, and maybe mustn’t, win with women. Ha!

Moon in panel 2 suggest a clear night. I’m going with stars over snow.

Mike should just count himself lucky. And then do something nice for his lady (without her asking). She might respond with doing something nice for him.

I think GT makes Toggle look quite intelligent and certainly adept at handling Alex’s mood swings…so for the men who feel they are so abused…might want to rethink.

Regarding snow, the second panel shows the crescent moon, so snow is very unlikely- probably stars.
