I ride the bus often: since the time when this comic was written tokens have been discontinued (Everyone would stock up if a price increase was announced.).
Today if one doesn’t have a pass or a “Charlie card” the cash paying riders are charged double.
Where I live, public transportation is cheap and ubiquitous.Buses for both city usage and travel throughout the country is the best way to go.
A city bus ride is .30 cents for adults, for Seniors, Students, Pregnant Women and Handicapped it is just .15 cents !
I’m old enough to remember riding the subways in New York City for .10 cents and then .15 cents and how everyone screamed when they raised the price to .25 cents ! How much does it cost to ride the bus or subway in NYC, now ?
Down in Washington when I hopped on a bus at the Supreme Court to get to my hotel. I had dollar bills but no coins. The bus driver let myself and my cousin ride no charge.
@Linguist Remember the Kingston Trio’s “MTA?” When Boston raised the subway fare to 15 cents and Charlie didn’t have the extra nickle to get off the train?

Lacy and Jeremy in back of the bus. How come I’m hearing Simon & Garfunkel in my head?

But its hard to imagine Jeremy ripping a cross off the altar in a scuffle to steal the bride.

The bus? Wouldn’t a Gremlin have been more sensible, Jeremy?
