It was hardest on BD.*

*Except for that one week on the cruise ship.

It was hardest on Boopsie, she missed B.D. more than he missed her.

If we’re talking struggles in general, however, B.D. wins, since he was in war.

They have much in common. Self-pity heads the list.

Things do get “hard” for the one with “falling zipper disease!”

It’s not a competition. Please, no wagering.

boobsie doesn’t get it. she worried about him but she was living in her home with her friends and lifestyle just missing one large part. HE was missing everything apart from a few days on a cruise ship, where a coke was luxury and a beer unheard of.

At least they can agree on that!

Since it was that bad for both of them, perhaps now that it’s over, it’s time to be glad it’s over, and move on?

My son is a career Marine. He was married before he enlisted and his wife has served along with him. She bore the loneliness and fears of his being deployed in harm’s way with grace and dignity. She supported him and still does. He did suffer privations as any combat Marine did, but she suffered greatly as well. They are both still serving and will do so until he retires.

The better relationship path is when they both say “I know it was hard on you.”

How hard was it for that poor officer girl when she found out BD was only a corporal?

I guess that was the big argument among my in-laws after WWII…which one had it hardest.
