Broker: What would make you think that Abraham Lincoln signed a baseball? Ralph: He probably threw out the first pitch at a Washington nationals! Broker: The Washington nationals weren't around when Lincoln was president! Ralph: Oh yeah, huh! Then it must have been the Washington senators!

Well, if he visited New York City before the war, there were clubs playing baseball there. ;)

Actually, there was a Washington Nationals Base Ball Club established in 1859. They played across from the White House. (http://www.19cbaseball.com/tours-1867washington-nationals-tour.html ) (I also know this baseball is not a 19th century baseball, and I very seriously doubt Lincoln signed a ball.)
