That’s what my dog will do, too. She likes to go outside around 11 pm and then sometimes again at 4 am. She’ll take off and chase the invisible cat or just sit on the grass and contemplate nature while I’m standing there cold and sleepy.
It’s fun having a dog, I don’t know what a solid nights sleep is, but I do get to see all the stars at night, that’s the only good thing about getting up in the middle of the night to let your dog out. I see a lot of shooting stars.
I’m owned by 3 “Newfies”, and a “Maremma” . the youngest, and smallest stands 27" at the shoulder, and weighs 107 pounds. “Installing a doggie door” would result in just replacing the lower half of our kitchen door. which obviously wouldn’t be the smartest thing to do!?!?!!

All pretty good reasons not to get a dog. I’m not a fan, it has to be said, but I know I’m in a minority here.

Noise regulations mean the dogs can’t go outside between 10 pm and 6 am.

We had an exchange student from Tokyo, she would do that. She had never seen northern lights either

At least Wally isn’t out there answering a call from Mother Nature, if you catch my drift.
