I see myself kneeling on a hard floor shewn with glass, Tiny Tim blasting from bull horns, beautiful food smells while my stomach rumbles, giving thanks for all eternity that I didn’t go to Hell.

@Nabuquduriuzhur: I’m sure a quote from cult leader Al Gore would have satisfied the liberal heathens.

Look, nobody is telling you agnostic and atheist types to shut up, so how about laying off others. Show some respect.

    Grouches looking for an excuse.

The subject of this comic was heaven. How are you going to discuss that without religion? You have taken God out of everything else. Now you want to take him out of heaven?

@ wavion, and whomever else it may concern,

I never said that you should not express you views. If you would like to proclaim that there is no God, be my guest. But there is no need to attack someone else for expressing their views. Those sentiments happen to be enjoyed by a lot of others here. I do not believe you have been authorized to quash anyones views.

It is raining on another’s parade that has no place here. If you feel a sprinkle it is because you did the rain dance.

thebird55: In retrospect, I shouldn’t have called out Mr. N; that lacked tact. I went ahead and deleted the comments. And if you’re reading, Mr. N, my apologies for their harshness. The only point I really wanted to get across is that we should try to stay on topic - keeping our focus on The Duplex. As for thebird55, you should consider that you’re telling me not to post my opinion that another shouldn’t post their opinion. We’re guilty of the same thing, whether you want to admit it or not.

You stated your disbelief clearly by insulting and belittling his beliefs, in a personal attack. I believe you owe him an apology. For the attack, not for your views. You have a right to them. You don’t have a right to be nasty.

I believe that Nabuquduriuzhur’s post was germane to the strip. The fact that he posts these often should not come into play here. We ‘religious types’ often see things though a lens that others don’t. Calvin withholding water from a flower (giving him a feeling of power), only to have it rain, probably wouldn’t have any religious overtones for you. It does for me. And I will comment to that affect. If that bothers somebody, I’m sorry, but I am free to do so.

About you sarcastic implication that I said you don’t have the right to post your opinion: You need to read my posts again. On the contrary, I said the very opposite.

Edit: Posted before I read your apology (overlap). I guess we are on the same page.

If I seem a little sensitive, please consider that recently we have been attacked for personal exchanges between friends here, simply because they are of a ‘religious’ nature. These are no different from the exchanges about vacations, pets, food, or anything else that others talk about. Yet we get called out on it.

As I said, between friends. Like minds. But we get accused of prosylitizing.

    UBUBOBU

I am a non-theist. I have hope just like any other human being has.

    I resent your proclamation.

The only thing that “God” does for humanity is set us against each other. The only good we have comes from our human love, hope and reason. “God” and belief in god always stands between us and the truth.

The concept of heaven implies hell. Hell is a nasty authoritarian threat to keep us “in line” and from thinking and feeling for ourselves. Thanks but no thanks!!

    theBird:

Did it ever occur to you that non-theists are moral caring spiritual people and that we might consider proselytizing an insult?
