If you get a chance, watch Peace, Love and Misunderstanding, a 2012 movie with Jane Fonda. It is present day Woodstock – funny and cute. This comic reminded me of it.
Marty’s son-in-law here. Thought I’d share a fun story or fact about Marty with you every Monday morn starting with this one…my favorite.
Marty was a great friend of Charles “Sparky” Schulz for nearly 50 yrs. Periodically, Marty, she lived in San Francisco, would go up to Santa Rosa and have lunch with Sparky at his skating rink. She didn’t like to drive so I’d take her up there. On one occasion we have lunch with Sparky and then the 3 of us walk over to the Peanuts/Snoopy gift shop. Sparky asked me if I wanted a t-shirt so Marty picks one out for me.
Once home, I try the shirt on and the shirt has Linus with his blanket near his face, a huge “Yawn” and a bunch of “ZZZZ” on the front of it. The fit was weird. The sleeves went down to my elbow, the length was down to my knees and the overall fit was loose but really comfortable. Strange…but I wore it.
A couple of months later Marty wanted to go have lunch with Sparky and I drove her up to Santa Rosa. So…I wore the Linus t-shirt that Sparky gave me the prior time. Marty and I go to sit down with Sparky and then Sparky looks at me, turns to Marty and says, “Marty…you do know he’s wearing a little girls nighty don’t you?”. Marty looks at me, laughs with her fantastic laugh and then turns to Saprky and says, “Sparky…do you think it’s still legal for him to wear it?!”. As if now that I knew it was a little girls nighty it would be illegal to wear. Guess what? I still wore it…but only in private. Way to comfortable!!

Reminds me of the army coats that we wore as kids during those days. I was lucky I didn’t have to wear them for real. To young.

I’m not sure, but I think my older sister read this back in the day. This is an old strip, isn’t it!
