Wow, I was about to say that Flask could have at least told them what her plans were before sending them out to get captured. Makes me wonder if she would have stopped them from removing Wally and Holly’s brains at the last second if it had come to that – or if she would have let them die. I would like to think she would have stepped in (being on top of the van, she very well could ‘drop in’ if needed but who knows how that would have worked out?)
Of course, she also could have picked them off from on top of the van. However, I wonder why the van didn’t say anything when Flask climbed on?
Flask thinks she’s on top Of the whole situation She’s quite too far up In self-estimation She could not have stopped The death beam just averted Then “command” would have flopped Holly dead — Flask deserted And Wally, once he grokked That she’d staged this “test” live In his loss, he’d be rocked She’d not likely survive Flask is cruel beyond hope And seems ready to crack She’s just like the trope: “Megalomaniac” But we know it’s a front And she has some deep feeling With her own need and want What would Prof be revealing? =|====/ Level Head Vote for Endtown 2.0 And for Doc Rat, too The Endtown Forum
No, Flask does what any good leader does – tells the Navy SEAL what the task is, and gets out of the way. Anything else would have been micromanagement.
Gotta hand it to you, Aaron. You’ve still got me stumped with the complexity of the characters, and their interaction. I’m almost beginning to think that Flask sees something in Wally that he doesn’t even see in himself. The proverbial non-hero hero. Brilliant stuff.
The more focused the nastier the beam. That was drawn as a direct fairly focused beam, no bigger than the gun nozzle. I was wondering, and maybe someday we will see, Given a mated pair of TS people, and one gets mutated, what choices does the other have? Well, kill the mutated one seems the common reaction. It is not the only one possible. Depending on their choices at that time, and that may depend on the choices they might have made together prior to the mutation, they might join the mutants, go out together as it were. It may be a do you love life, and love your loved one more than you love your shape? The series problem with this is that the change has been described as nightmare fuel.
My God you’ve killed her!!! How could you do such a terrible, violent thing?! All she wanted was to tear your loved one’s brain out of her skull and use it for our own means! Is that so wrong?!?
Something feels wrong here. Why is Linda’s gun still firing, never saw that before. It has the feeling of a controlled training mission, but one where the trainees weren’t told it was a staged scenario. Don’t see how that’s possible here, but it still has that feeling.
Didn’t get to see the rest of Comments so if someone else said this sorry but: *This is Wally & Hollys’ ‘Kobiashi Maru’ ….a test like Crusher took in Next Gen to get into the Academy.
Appears to me Flask has a sarcastic, slightly sadistic smirk on her face as if she is toying with Wally. As if she thinks his “jacket” was BS but she would put him through her paces just the same. Like a pass/fail test. Her tone with him has seemed sarcastic to me since their first interaction. What’s her ulterior motive? I haven’t a clue. That’s part of why this strip intrigues me so. Its not so easy to see which way its going.
Linda just became the new Luxor..And Flask is reminding me of Drusilla from Pibgorn. Why? Because here she is witnessing a battle, with the fate of Endtown (and other underground cities, no doubt!) in the balance. And even though Flask is not saying it out loud (as Dru would), I can’t help but feel that she’s wishing that she had in her possession a big bowl of buttered popcorn.
Wally is a survivor. And such survive. Put them in a bad situation, and odds are not the expected odds. But having Flask on your team reduces the odds. Frex, Wally and Holly would have made friends with that child. Which might have helped them. (and I recall the (color) Fairy book stories where our hero helps/befriends some set of critter and gets help in return).
On the west coast, this strip usually updates about 10:11 pm. But since it is a Mon – Fri strip, this is the Friday cliffhanger. It won’t update again till Sunday night. So we’ll all have to wait the entire weekend to see what happens next.
I haven’t looked at the crosstime forum before. Thanks for posting that link. endtown.com seems to be mapping back to zetaboards. Zetaboards is the official Aaron-approved forum. It has the “donate” link.

Watching and waiting all this time. Rather sadistic, aren’t you, Flask?

It’s brilliant that Aaron gets expressions out of expressionless masks.
Arcaton about 13 years ago
Presumably Linda’s convulsive final grip on the gun is the reason she’s still blasting away into space – even in death.
Randy B Premium Member about 13 years ago
I assume that Wally did set the gun to “stun” – see September 12. Her muscles are probably locked up, but I don’t think she’s dead.

Flask, you crazy, woman.

Flask has at least 3 different plans and I’m sure none of them have Wally or Holly coming back with her alive.By the Way…Where’s the ’droid?

..Flask will probably take off his mask…

Expression, even under masks, it’s great.

It just occurred to me…Didn’t Flask say “there’s our ride as planned,”?
I believe she did. She knew it was coming. Hmmm…..
vburke about 13 years ago
Man, that is one dangerously warped kitty. If I was her, though, I’d think twice about cheesing off Wally while he’s got the gun in his hand.
OdderOtter about 13 years ago
Does Wally’s gun need winding? Obern, if the TS people make regular patrols, you can plan on a ride.
OdderOtter about 13 years ago
And it seems that they captured a live top sider. How awkward. Flask will want to kill, and Wally/Holly to keep.
