My wife did drafting at a govt funded research lab. For a while she worked in what was called the Plutonium Building. Some technicians worked with small (way sub-critical mass) quantities of Plutonium. They had an elaborate decontamination setup in case something went wrong. Suits like that were standard for the techs.
