My phone says Suspected Spam Call. If it isn’t, it has me put it in a category like Auto, insurance etc. It also has a feature where it types that its an Automated Calling Assistant and what is the nature of the call. Solicitors hang up fast.
Spam calls are the equivalent of the obscene phone calls we used to get in the days of rotary phones and phone books. It can be fun to answer them if you have something fun to say that will cause them to hang up on you. One thing that works well with spam calls is to ask them their first name and then say “Michelle? Is that you? Long time no see! How are you? Are you still going with David? Do you remember the time we double dated, I was with Gary at that time and we had such a fun time?” By the time you get this far they’ve hung up on you.
My phone has one ring for family, one for professionals I deal with (Dr, bank, car shop) and one for everything else. I merely ignore the everything else ring – if it matters, they’ll leave a message. They never do. And I don’t have to waste time with scammers and salesfolk.
The one type of call that won’t work with is medical supply companies. You will find yourself inundated with diabetic supplies and a brace for every body part that can be braced!

I just don’t answer. OK, occasionally I do, but I don’t say anything. ;)

That’s better than the “Do Not Call” list.

That’s one way to do it.

I’m going to have to try that since politely asking them to stop calling almost never works.

I keep getting calls from companies and no one answers. I hear it is some kind of scam.
