It would probably avert something like the notorious “Zomato delivery boy eating from the order” incident that took the Indian metros by storm. (Google it. There was a whole furore. The college kids sided with the delivery guy – ironic in some sense since they’re the app’s biggest customers – while the working stiffs were the one to call out the behaviour as unhygenic and irresponsible.)
(Though in some sense there’s merit in both sides of the argument: particularly regarding the position of the delivery guy. My mother once ordered an expensive handbag and wasn’t there to receive it, so the delivery guy just threw it into her balcony and marked it off. If that’s not an argument in favor of delivery drones, I don’t know what is.)
A Doordash delivery person was caught taking bites of food from a customer. Made the news recently: https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/07/14/man-says-doordash-delivery-driver-ate-half-his-food-before-delivering-it/
I never have stuff delivered, I always pick it up myself if I get takeout… this is mostly because I rarely have cash on me to give tips, and even though I know that technically these apps include tip in the order, it just feels bad to me not to give the delivery guy a tip in person.
