Well that’s the first time I’ve ever heard of that particular symptom of infatuation!!! Lol :o))

I am sure Mike will become a lovesick.

I am curious about a creative point: I wonder if Lynn had any idea of what would happen in the future with Mike and Deanna.

I would like to think that their meeting again when they are in their 20’s and the subsequent romance and marriage was something that grew spontaneously as it happened or whether there was a hint of this in her mind as early as these strips as the two in grade school.

I guess like any relationship, it cannot be contrived and I don’t see Lynn setting things up like this so early in the lives of the strip and these two characters.

Anyway, it is great to see this old work in a very new light!

brewwitch - this is very loosely based on events that happened to her and her family - very very loosely … but it’s a good question … also, don’t forget, she’s ‘re-writing’ with 20/20 hindvision ;)

I love the strip but this is not my favorite story arc. The joys of sending a man to a farmers market and getting not some veggies for dinner but enough apples for an army, I can understand– but romance in 1st grade? I can’t imagine most people have any symptoms before 6th/7th grade (or at least, they didn’t then before it was “pushed” on kids to do it younger fairly recently)

Oh come on, I think this is rather sweet. It sure beats the daily dose of “John is a male chauvinist pig and Elly is the poor put upon victim” we usually get.

I remember my first grade crush making me feel that way too! Or it was the White Castles? bleeep - I don’t remember now!

Strangely enough, I turn into a little girl every time I try to ask a girl out …unless I’m going on a date for the sake of saying I’m going on a date and that I’m not socially inept, in which case the date is commonly short and effected in nature. If I don’t turn into a little girl, that means I wasn’t truly interested in the first place.

If each comic has a corresponding original, it would be so cool to have both shown on one page or running separately here! B-)

Like Charlie Brown, I had my little red-headed girl in first and second grade. I had a killer crush on her. Then my family moved way out in the ‘burbs and I never saw her again. Still think of her fondly from time to time.

My very first crush at 5 was when I saw on a black and white screen in the small town Grange Hall a pretty little curly hair girl dancing and singing in front of a picket fence. For those of you who are old enough, that was Shirley Temple.

That crush lasted nearly a whole year. Then we moved to Spokane and I met another pretty curly hair girl from 3 doors down. CRUSH!

I remember my first crush. My little red head girl. Finally got her to go to the dance with me in 5th grade. Dated all the way up to jr. high. Aint first love grand

Yeah, I had a crush on a girl at about that age. In fact mom let me name my sister after her. Sis is seven years younger than me so I guess I was around seven then.

Michael’s stomach must be getting more and more cocoons for each time he sees Deanna. Then they turned into butterflies on that one New Year’s party many years from “now.”

At least we’re past the whole male chauvinist pig deal, if only for a day.
