What a sweet moment. You know you’ve done something right as a parent when your little one shows such compassion.

He’s making her feel better, and she’s about to give him her cold. What a wonderful exchange.

Ji2m: I live in the United States so I find information I didn’t know about regarding my neigbors to the North to be quite interesting! Thanks, howtheduck!

Also, I didn’t start reading “FBOFW” until around the time April was born so I know nothing of Lynn Johnston’s original comics. Thanks for the information regarding “then” vs. “now” in the way it’s drawn.

P.S.: howtheduck’s comments regarding Michael with his eyes bugging out and his tongue flopping out of his mouth from his mother’s hug most likely gave me my laugh for the day so thanks for that too!!!!!

An addendum to howtheduck’s (and Lynn’s, apparently) post regarding child restraints.

The use of child seats and the appropriate ages, like everything to do with motor vehicles, is legislated provincially, not federally. Check with your own province’s laws regarding safety seats and restraints.

For example, in British Columbia, a child must be in a rear-facing seat in the back seat until they are a minimum of one year old and 9 kg (20 lbs). Afterwards, they may use a tethered front-facing seat until they are a minimum of 18 kg (40 lbs), or longer if the manufacturer’s specifications on the seat allow. After this, a booster seat is required until the child is 9 years old or 145 cm (4’ 9”), whichever comes first. A child may then use a 3-point seatbelt only, but it is still recommended they remain in the back seat until the age of 12, due to the airbags being positioned for an adult passenger.

    Check your own province’s laws.

Hey folks, it’s a comic strip. Quit looking for everything to make you look smart. It is for laughs only.

Oh sure Doty, little boys who have mothers that constantly hug them NEVER pull faces when they get hugged.

This is so cute! One of the best FBFW strips I’ve seen for a few weeks. Makes me smile.

That was sweet! My kids say nice things like that, even when I’m not sick, and it totally makes all the difficult times worth it. Brings a warm feeling just thinking about it… :-)

My son (9 year old) likes to hug me all the time - way more than his elder sisters ever did. Even when I pick him up from school and in front of his classmates - and the boys don’t seem to think anything wrong with this. Things have changed, up here at least, and I get those aaaawww moments all the time :)

That last panel is creepy. It’s like the final shot of a woman and her child before she kills the both of them. “No one is going to take you away from me.”
