Congrats GreenTick! That’s great news this time of the year… I’ve tried the settling down thing, was married for 4 years, now getting divorced… Hopefully I’ll be luckier the second time around…
Congrats GreenTick may you be happy for as long as parents (53 years) and as my hubby and me (27 years).
Settling down is not for everyone we were in the military and moved every few years so now that we are retired out about every 3 - 4 years we get the itch for some place new.
We have 2 wonderful girls and both are just the opposit of us the want to stay in one place that they can call home and raise their families.
Hey, Mistan! I got lucky the second time around at age 56. My husband said it took him three times to get it right. I told him that gave me one more chance! Didn’t need it though-he was great and we were married almost 21 years when he died last May.
‘Tis the season - you AND mroberts88!!! ‘Tis cool!

It means different things for different people. As long as you didn’t settle, then settling down is all good! :o)

I’m sorry for your loss… My mother lost her husband (my father) after 27 years together (5 years ago)… She’s now found a new love and quite happy… I’m hoping to find something like what she found with both men in the future… I’m still pretty young (31), so I’ve got time…

Quite simply, settling down isn’t for everyone. And that’s just the way it is! :o)

Busted, Phil. And yes, she and Connie know the “routine”, but Elly is more realistic about it.
Congratulations, GreenTick!!

Seems that Phil’s current life suits him - why ask him to change?

Is she asking out of her own interest or did Connie ask her to ask him this?
Congratulations GreenTick, I hope you’ll have many happy years together.

I like her youthful and relaxed look in this one. Her settling down usually leaves her unsettled.
I wish we could get flashbacks of when she and her brother were younger.

even the thought of that scares him endlessly.

Phil doesn’t want to stay at Elly’s home too long because of Connie, Elly’s neighborly friend…. tsk tsk…
summerdog86 almost 15 years ago
Phil did settle down late, and married his long time music partner.
Where’s Duckie? He can tell us more about it, I’m sure. I don’t remember the details.
Klaatu is the robot in the avatar. From the old movie: “The Day The Earth Stood Still”.

Panel 4 is Connie looking in the window while she stands outside straddling the shrubs.
And why’s Elly so pushy about commitment when she is so overtly miseable with it herself? She wants everyone else to be as bitter as she is.

Actually, Gort is the robot. Klaatu is the character played by Michael Rennie.

Thanks, Takiniteasy. I stand corrected : )
