I know a lot of parents who hold their children’s Halloween candy, and then dole it in smaller portions so as to avoid the imminent “sugar rush.”
Still others will give out a bit of the candy over time as a reward or incentive…this provides the added benefit of teaching a lesson on “saving for a rainy day.” In other words, you can enjoy all of your bounty at once and soon forget it, or spread it out over time and extend the memories.
Michael’s loot should be taken away after that sass.
That’s what I do, BuzzDog. I let them splurge for a couple of days, and then we spread it out for rewards. After a while, they narrow their loot down to their favorites, and we get rid of the rest. They don’t seem to miss the extra.
And still more spammers. You’d think they’d get the hint after a while.
Candy doesn’t cause cavities IF you brush your teeth after eating it. It’s when the sugars stay in the mouth that you have a problem. John isn’t freaking out because he or Ellie will insist that Mike brush his teeth.
When I was a kid, my dad only had to make a “suggestion” once. Neither my sister nor I would have ever dared talk back to him like Michael does because he wouldn’t have stopped at a “growl” … next would have come the spanking!
Interesting that the strip posted on the fbofw website is different from this one. This strip was originally published the day after Halloween in 1981. The one on Lynn’s website isn’t about Halloween at all.
Starting Monday I will be turning in, not the spammers, but the website business site that they are providing the link for to our state’s attorney-general. He loves to prosecute spamming website owners.
Do the same for your state’s attorney-general; since go-comics doesn’t wish to help, then we can simply have the spammers owners fined out of existence.
What is John’s problem? The kid asked, non-whiningly, a simple question. ‘Because I said so’ should never be the first answer out of the box. A simple answer like ‘so the dog (or Lizzy) doesn’t eat it all’ would have made sense to the kid, and gotten the job done.

If you think THIS is bad, John, just wait until about ten years from now!

May maledictions pursue these nefarious prevaricating purveyors of junk into absolute and utter madness, NOW!
As for Mike, he too will have his own come-uppance with his rug-rats!

As a dentist, why isn’t John more freaked out by all that candy Michael is enjoying? (go warm up the drill, John. You’ll be needing it)

I guess that “Growl” can be considered a last word.
Isn’t that parents have always done? Impart something of their demeanor in the tone of the “final” to their children? LOL
