Heā€™s a doctor and heā€™s right. What was the answer you expected?

The correct answer was something along the lines ofā€¦ ā€œWhat weight? I donā€™t see that youā€™ve gained an ounce anywhere!ā€

John, just be glad she didnā€™t hold the pillow down. Remember, he!! hath no fury like a woman scorned or criticized.

She needs reassurance. The thing to do is to reach over, give her a big hug, and tell her she is the most beautiful woman in the world to you and you wouldnā€™t want to change a thing.

Oh, and mean it whan you say it. No tongue in cheek or snippy, teasing stuff.

It works. And itā€™s the kind and loving thing to do.

First of all, heā€™s a dentist, not a medical doctor. While he may have some insight into the human body, heā€™s certainly no expert. And even if he did know what heā€™s saying is true in Ellyā€™s case, this is when he needs to be a supportive husband and not a babbling idiot.

Great answer puppybreath! Youā€™re a bitter, angry guy, dugharry.

ā€œIā€™m bigger than you are, so I need more food each day just to maintain my weight. Itā€™s the same with you and Michael; heā€™s smaller, so he doesnā€™t need as much food as you do.ā€

Depending on Ellieā€™s mood, it might or might not work, but at least itā€™s probably safe.

We women really have unrealistic views of our bodies. Society does not help with all the adds of the perfect bodied women. I guess nice to look at from a manā€™s brainā€¦but most women are just not that physically perfectā€¦.anyway as long as your heart is in the right place ā€¦than who cares!

Unfortunately, ā€œsocietyā€ (read: the fashion/fitness industry) has defined a ā€œdesirableā€ weight for women which is neither healthy for them nor attractive to men. But it is highly profitable, which is all that really matters anymore.

Thank God Iā€™m married to someone more evolved than John! While Iā€™m no longer overweight now, Iā€™ve been thinner and Iā€™ve been heavier and never at any point during my heavier days did my husband ever say anything that made me feel any worse about myself than I already did at the time. Even now, after 22 years of marriage, he still tells me how beautiful and perfect he thinks I am (just the way I am!) and thatā€™s one of the many reasons why Iā€™ll love him forever ā€¦ heā€™s apparently as blind as a bat!!!!!

    ;-)

Iā€™m in love with a man that tells me everyday that he loves me no matter what I look like. And I love him with his love handles and all. We respect each other. If I asked him that question he would simply say ā€œI donā€™t know babyā€¦.but it doesnā€™t matter to me ā€˜cause your sexy to me all the time.ā€

At 73, I am pretty much the same weight now as I was at 20, but I donā€™t have it arranged the same in spite of an abundance of exercise- and I donā€™t expect that. I still think itā€™s OK and I accept myself as I am and have no insecurities.

I call it being an ā€œeasy keeperā€ ā€“ a term I heard on a llama farm for an animal that doesnā€™t eat much, but stays plump. :D
