The Patterson family has THE SMALLEST eyes I’ve ever seen! LOLWe boys learn early about ‘love, dating, and girls with cooties’ … mostly during recess when we punch or pull the hair of the girls we like with the least amount of cooties.
Reminds me of when my kids were young—boy and girl. The “f” word started showing up and I demanded to know where they learned that word. “On the bus!” was their response.
I remember “sex-ed” when I was in high school. We were involved in a pilot program “family life & sex education” in the Anaheim school district. The program was written up in national magazines (Good Housekeeping, not Playboy) because it was considered to be an excellent program, both in teaching about how to get along in a family as well as the mechanics of reproduction. (Sorry, no demonstrations, but we did learn all the correct terminology.) You’d be surprised what naive teenagers like me learned in that class. It was taught in 9th thru 12th grades and was tailored to age level.The program was gutted and eventually abandoned because a vocal few parents had the wrong idea about what was being taught and fought it at the district level. Again, you’d be amazed at what lies were presented as fact about those classes. Those lies are what caused the program to be dropped. A shame, really. All stopping it did was put sex education back at the playground level. And, I am proud to say, my parents were on the front line of those who wanted to keep the program intact.

Sex education is not all at recess. I got part of mine on the school bus in third grade! (Not in demonstration mode mind you.)
