I remember treating a patient many years ago who was under arrest with a police escort. Turned out he had broken into a shop right under a cctv camera. Maybe Michael met him too.
Micheal . . . think about it. Even if you get away with it, how good are you really going to feel giving your mother a stolen scarf for Christmas?!!! And what are you going to say to her if she asks you how you were able to afford to “buy” it for her?
Think about this too: if you get caught stealing that scarf, the only one that’s going to get in trouble is you . . . not Lawrence!!! So do the right thing and put it back on the shelf, then go home and ask your dad either for a loan or if there are any extra chores that you can do around the house in order to earn the money you need to buy your mom a Christmas gift the right way! Believe me, you’d feel a whole lot better about yourself if you do!!!!!
@ Kees – WTF?!! You condone crime? Maybe I should come and help myself you your stuff? It’d be alright wouldn’t it? It’s not like someone is going to suffer if I steal from you, is it?
At lest for Michael we know his future as a writer. Otherwise if Michael were to try for lawenforcement he would need to include this theft in some states. Here in KS those records would be gone after age of 21. Now at age 21 those records are scanned and kept until age 35. Law enforcement has to have special permission to view an adult child record.
If you do, you won’t feel as good about giving it to her as if you earned, or borrowed the money and paid it back, it yourself. Even if you could get away with it. That’s what good parenting does for you.

Oh noooo! Don’t do it, Michael – you will get caught! And Mom won’t think it’s so charming that it was supposed to be a gift for her.

It’s always your friends who lead you into a life of crime. You have to blame someone for it.

Lynn said at her web site today that her son really did take a toy from a store, and that inspired this story.

Michael (and Lawrence too) Listen to your heart, and do what’s smart. Remember God said: Thou shalt not steal.

Why did Lawrence even suggest the idea? Sound like Michael is going the Adam route. (He made me do it.)
