My dad always woke us kids up, I think he was more excited then us. First year out of my parents home Dad called me Christmas morning at 6 am to ask when I was coming over. I really think it’s more about just spending time with family then the presents.
I remember one Christmas my older brother and I got up early and rode my little brother’s rocking horse until it broke. We rigged it back up so it looked okay. The minute my little brother sat down on the horse it broke. Aah, what a Merry Christmas that was.
I can still hear the bell ring.. Merry Christmas.Remember the Reason for the SeasonMary & Christ http://www.reflectionsmg.com/reflections-of-christ-videos.php
One Christmas the toy my younger sister wanted the most was a Larry the Lion. When she opened the gift and saw Larry she about burst with happiness, but what was priceless is when she pulled the string to have him talk; and the first thing out of Larry’s mouth was “I’m Larry the Lion.” My sister sister’s joyful shout: “I know, I know!” We still laugh about that Christmas morning.
“We’re reading ‘A Christmas Carol.’ We always do at Christmas. It’s nearly the end, and you’re spoiling it.”.“Scrooge beats Tiny Tim to death with his crutch. Now…”
I think my 2 kids are the only ones who I have to wake up on Christmas morning. I’ve slept in till 8 AM before. The wif is the one who cannot sleep. My brother and sister and I would be too jittery but we had rules we could not wake up our Dad until 5:30 or 6, and we’d better have coffee ready and a fire in the fireplace! My parents are still around and we’ll see them on Christmas afternoon – he’s 90 this year!
@ Reese…..I gave my son a LARRY THE LION for his second Christmas. His cousin who was a couple of years older than him visited and broke it first thing. It was just the first of MANY things that cousin broke of his over the years.
After all the preparation and anticipation, I can’t IMAGINE not being awake to see the joy on the kids’ faces when they see their loot and rip it open (unless your a sadist who forbids them to open their presents until you’re there or you just got them socks and underwear.)
My folks lived into their 80s and I’m mid 70s now (and the matriarch of the family) . I now live far from the rest but my 4 kids and 6 grandkids and I all get to visit regularly.
lol I was not expecting anything….but really wanted a snuggle and thought once I move and settled in and after a few months paid bills and all my nerves would sattle down for moving so far, My mom got me one, lol the only thing I recieve

Kids listen for Santa; parents listen for the kids. It’s a tossup who’s more eager.

Not me. I am sound asleep hoping that I can have 30 more minutes. But once I’m awake, I’m just as excited as they are. :-)

(forgot to cite the quote—it’s from Christopher Fowler’s “The Seventy-Seven Clocks.”)
