poor kid but Mom would love it no matter what, Mom’s are like that. My mother always said the best gift she ever got was the jump rope my 5 year old daughter bough, for her 65th birthday.
Glad everyone has calmed down. A hard night feeling guilty and unsure can be a good thing. When John has time to think, he gets a lot wiser. Not much in the notes today.
Lynn’s Notes:
Mom was a master at repairing things. She could glue and sand and paint and varnish almost anything so that the crack, chip, or missing piece was restored. This meant that anything broken at the store that was salvageable, made it’s way home. We had, therefore, a plethora of pots, vases, statuettes, and collectible objects strategically placed about the house. At the time, smoking was fashionable. On every table, armchair, and bookshelf was an ashtray with a butt in every one. Dusting the china and cleaning the ashtrays was often my job, and when I got to be a teenager, I swore that when I had a place of my own, it would have no bric-a-brac or dust-collecting junk anywhere. That was then. I now have my share of detritus but it’s all in cabinets and there are no ashtrays!
There are plenty of opportunities during a child’s life to teach lessons in responsibility. Children make a lot of. mistakes. Sometimes it’s ok to make some allowances for immaturity and just go ahead and fix things.

It’s Christmas, after all. “Daddy Claus” will probably bail him out with a new one… lesson learned!

I know all too well about those long, stressful nights…but, for myself now, the stress is often financial issues…

Looks like John is not going to use this opportunity to teach Michael a lesson in personal responsibility. Bad parenting.

Dad’s gonna buy a new one & treat it as a miracle healing.

Waiting for morning is enough of a learning experience, I think. Mike already feels bad enough. Lesson learned, replace the gift.
