I thought John was a model train fanatic. (This also reminds of the Calvin/Hobbes storyline where Calvin tries to make model F-14 jet or something.)

My X was like this when it came to building model aircraft (mostly WarBirds) and Cars (mostly muscle cars). Thankfully he had and has a ton of patience with children.

Uh, those moveable surfaces he’s putting on on the tail are NOT the flaps, they’re the elevators and rudder.

I’m glad some of the commenters are perfect people. Their lives must be so dull. Thanks again, Lynn, for helping us laugh at ourselves.

I’ve been reading some FBorFW strips from 2008 when Lynn started to redraw the strip in the old style. Are they re-runs now or still new original ones (old style)?

I remember “Arthur” when Arthur put together an airplane model. The biggest challenge was D. W. constantly trying to mess with it. He finally puts it together and D.W. decides to make it fly by throwing it out the bedroom window, which of course wrecks it. And then claims it was already broken because it wouldn’t fly.

Building model airplanes on a Honeymoon? Not even my X husband was that boring! Solitary activities like that are meant for solitary times. Doing things together (even away from the bedroom) are always better.

I can’t believe that of all the strips here I read, ONLY 10 Cats acknowledged National Ice Cream Day (was on my morning news) – That would be a way for the whole family to relax. Rainy morning is so dark, I can hardly see the keyboard.

I’ve bee a model railroader and general model builder all my life. Always enjoyed it and never found it to be a frustration that made me touchy or angry. I included my sons in my hobbies from early childhood on and they’ve both become skilled modelers. Hobbies have given us something to share and enjoy together. Our entire family share common interests together, based on hobbies.

I’m sorry that’s all you get out of the comics. I don’t read the ones I don’t enjoy.
