If you are still eating a 25 pound turkey after 2 months I would say that Elly must be a pretty good cook and house wife. First it must be preserved to still be edible. Second, the menu must be varied to keep the family from throwing it out. Third, he’s not dead from food poisoning. All this and money saving too.

Well, John either married her despite her cooking or didn’t have the good sense to have her cook a meal for him before he proposed. That being said, I think this is just saying that a 25lb turkey was too big for their little family.

@ILuvLu@QuietStorm27@gigantorYou guys, IT’S A COMIC STRIP! A more realistic comic strip, but still. It DOES NOT follow all rules of reality.

My wife doesn’t buy a large turkey anymore as I DO NOT like turkey leftovers more the twice. What is worse is that she boils the carcass down for soup. I CAN’T STAND TURKEY SOUP ! ! !

This turkey is getting good mileage. The Turkey was dropped on his foot in November. It is now the end of February. So everyone is eating a Turkey that is over 3 months old.Not healthy.

I can’t stand turkey enough as it is but to have it for two months afterwards…that’s just wrong

I wish I could be surprised that she got complaints, but there are, as ever, a lot of small, scared, stupid people out there.

The U. S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service say that “Poultry, uncooked, whole” should keep well for up to 12 months and that “[f]reezer storage is for quality only. Frozen foods remain safe indefinitely.” So while you can eat it any time, it’s not necessarily going to be very good after that 12-month mark.

I think cooked turkey when properly stored can be frozen for up to four months.

Wow, someone who actually understands John’s accident is mortifying, instead of that sophomoric brother-in-law!

There are Jewish doctors!? Who knew?

Apparently, some elaboration is needed. -My comment was meant to be satirical. Obviously, there are Jewish doctors. Anyone who doesn’t know that is hopelessly ignorant. Anyone, who objects to that fact, or to the depiction of Jewish doctors in a comic strip, is hopelessly bigoted. The fact that anyone complained, and that the cartoonist felt it necessary to explain herself is a sad commentary on our society. My little snide remark is the least those ignorant bigots (the complainers) deserve.

That doctor must have changed his profession, as he looks exactly like the candy store owner in later strips.
