don’t all of Elizabeth Patterson’s, the boy’s, and Melody Morrison’s classmates want to be like Melody Morrison?

It’s difficult to approach a perfect person!

Melody doesn’t look happy. Maybe she needs a good friend.

We had two in the grade school era: Carol was an uppity, know-it-all snot. Patty was sweet and kind.

Many times kids like this are from divorced homes and are showered with clothes, the newest toys, etc. Meanwhile, they are miserable and unhappy, but sometimes try to make up for this by acting snotty and superior….it covers up their feelings of inferiority. I knew a girl like this in school….and she was very pretty, too, which fed into the perception of her being aloof and snobbish. Found all this out in adulthood, when we met up again on Facebook and I learned the back story.

Elizabeth will be the only one that gave her a Valentine and they become friends.

Melody does look sad. Perhaps she is painfully shy. My husband is, and he still gets the reputation of being snooty because of it.

She looks lonely.

The truth comes out.

4th grade is when the girls start forming cliques and get all exclusionary and mean. Boys don’t even notice this……ever.
