At a friends house in a wooded area with a winding road, several times a year there would be a squeal of brakes followed by a thump. They would run down to the road, and sure enough, freshly killed deer. They carried it home, drained the blood, skinned it, cut up and wrapped the meat, and put it in the freezer. (And gave the bones to the dogs.)
