Another in the series of “John isn’t getting any” jokes.
My experience is that when you work on home improvement late into the night, your family will not be able to get any sleep with noise you make. Best to do it during the day or on weekends and not when your husband has to go to work in the morning and your kids have to go to school the next day.
Also, wallpapering is a two person job; so I think I know what kind of jokes we are going to have this week.
Drives me nuts when my wife starts a major project late in the day. Even if she specifically doesn’t ask me to help, I know if I don’t, I’m toast.
I often used to start big projects after dinner when the kids were in bed and the house was quiet. The trouble with this was that I couldn’t stop when I was tired–I was always determined to finish the job…which might be 3:00am.
Lynn’s notes seem to confirm that this is her, and she never mentions needing her husband for these projects:bI often used to start big projects after dinner when the kids were in bed and the house was quiet. I wallpapered several rooms a long time ago and had the assistance of two back seat drivers (mother and brother), one girl child, two dogs and three cats. It was the last time I wallpapered anything.
Horrid childhood memories of stripping wallpaper of the walls ( I can still smell the old paste and paper as I steamed and scraped it off ),during one of my mother’s manic remodeling moods ( a different room every year! ).
I firmly resolved, never to have wallpaper in any of my homes, when I grew up. It was one childhood promise, to myself, that I kept !

Wallpapering is not a job for couples who want to remain couples.

We tried putting up one of those wallpaper murals once. After several hours of futile effort, we gave up and painted the wall.

Ugh, I hate wall paper. Does anyone still use it, or has it fallen out of fashion?

I have a book at home with this story arc in it. Let’s just say that John should have shelled out the money and had a professional do it!
