Why hasn’t the US gone metric? We’re waiting to be first when the next “bright idea” comes along! Wasn’t the meter based on a fraction of the distance equator to north pole? Before anyone had actually been there! (and continental drift to be taken into account?) Much better time and distance constants have been discovered through atomic research, so look for an even better system to come along. Along the same lines, why do we count with base ten, when base eight would have made computer technology so much simpler. (At least furlongs per fortnight has been obsoleted)
Given the pointed toes and how the shoes are way to big for Liz, I’m guessing if she had walked anywhere close to a mile she would have some huge blisters by now.

Don’t look so dismayed, Elly. I think it’s actually kind of cute that Elizabeth took that saying literally!

Shouldn’t this be: “Mom, I walked .62 km in your shoes!”

Impressive, I can barely stand in heels.

What – no tonguey laugh?

That was funny! How could any parent be mad at that?

Elly should be impressed that she didn’t fall over or twist an ankle.

I think all little girls try their mother’s shoes on. I know I did, although I never walked a mile in them!

yless: Why didn’t you include the finish?
When we got back to the house, I said to my hero, the creator of Peanuts, “Guess what, Sparky. I’ve walked a mile in your shoes!”
No doubt why Lynn tied it to this particular strip.

Before criticizing somebody walk a mile in their shoes. That way you will be a mile away and you will have their shoes.

I’m definitely not a fan of kids wearing heels, but I have to say she looks cute. Looks like the noses might be a bit scuffed, though.
