I thought that she was correct, as after all, isn’t the judge the one who decides & should see it? I don’t see a jury there to show it to.

For a simple traffic ticket, there is no jury and the “court” is filled up with people waiting for their case to be called and are not involved with the proceedings, so what is this judge doing? He is the one who needs to look at it – and the Pervrett lawyer – and make a ruling. I imagine the lawyer will want to challenge the diagram.

Poor little Elly. I do assume she’s in the wrong, though.

The way this arc’s been running I keep expecting an appearance by Ron Higgins: professional Cardinal Richelieu impersonator.

These are funnier for Lynn herself having done this same thing. So for those criticizing the accuracy, it’s quite possible she’s being as accurate as she can be, albeit with some comical alterations here and there.

What no bailiff? Here in the USA courts, the bailiff takes those diagrams from the parties to the judge for review.

    Lynn’s Notes:

If I say so myself, I did draw up a great diagram.

With a little overemphazing one get a good comic entry!

If she’s this inept in court, how is she behind the wheel?

Hard to believe a comic strip would get so many things wrong about a simple court proceeding. I demand authenticity in my comic strips.

I hate this whole plot line in the strip because it makes Elly out to be a complete imbecile. I don’t know why Lynn Johnston thought it wise or necessary or accurate to portray a woman as hopelessly inept at representing herself in court. Showing one of her main characters as a moron isn’t exactly endearing.

The traffic court is where you make a plea. If you make a not guilty plea then you make a decision for a jury trial or in front of a judge only. Then he sets a trial date. Artist is losing my respect and interest.
