Remember last year’s Valentine’s Dance where Gunther took Allyson Creemore home after she got sick and she was sending little hearts in the air to Gunther as if she had recognized his kindness and romance was in the air? Rewind that story as if it never happened.
In the original strips, Gordon’s hair always looked thin and sparse which made him look like an old man. He looks much better in the re-colored strips. He’s properly filled up with color. No more old-man teenage Gordon. Michael’s original strips had his hair parted so widely he seemed bald on one side. In this re-color, it’s narrower. The width varies in the re-colors as in some being wider than others but no so wide-baldy anymore. It was suggested that the original colorist misread the hairlines and left Michael looking oddly bald. My guess is Lynn had a talk or left a note with new colorists to read her drawings properly.
Those days were so easy when it came to dances. Make a plan. Work it out in your head and rehearse every possible response from the girl and then do absolutely nothing and wonder why it didn’t work out.
And all the dorks grew up to be the handsome, successful men for the most part while the big, handsome football stars ended up fat, bald and reliving the glory days.
The sad fact is that if he goes to the dance with another girl, Allyson might just pay attention to him. I have been married, widowed, and remarried. It was only after I was engaged did other girls actually paid any attention to me as possible romantic material. Up until then I was only friend material.

That sort of focus is what makes people invent Cell phones, computers and dating apps. The geek equivalent of being on the football team.

Had anyone else noticed that a lot of these fine cuteypie guys start drinking heavy (for whatever reason) then loose their looks?

Refresh my memory: Isn’t Allyson the one he eventually marries, has a kid, then she leaves?
