As much as I live about ten minutes’ walking distance to the grocery store at which I’m employed, I rarely get asked by co-workers if I want ride home during the closing shift. I’ve had only two occasions: one was a closing shift (co-worker offered me and another a ride home), but the other was shortly after the opening shift began on the day after Christmas just last year because I didn’t feel well and I didn’t want to collapse the walk home (I asked a higher-up manager to give me the ride).
The cell phone has changed the way we do everything. When my characters have to get in touch with someone, you can really see that this is a retro strip!
Remember, when arriving somewhere out of town, having to make a person to person call to a fictitious person back home to let your parents know you arrived safely but not have to pay for the call. (and long distance calls were expensive)
I have a job interview a vitural and this is the kind of job I like its kinda like Walmart to get stuff ready for the customers to get their right stuff I hope I get the job

The employees are required to use the payphones for personal calls. Do pay phones still exist?

This was the pre-texting era. Lynn usually updates her strips to include the technology we have today. Did she miss this one?

Remember walking around with a roll of dimes… then a roll of quarters…then the prepaid cards that the mafia made a fortune on.

Last pay phone booths in NYC were removed recently

Lynn said that so many of her strips from back then required people looking for people using a phone. All of that is now obsolete with cell phones.

How to frighten the new generation.
Put them in a room with rotary phone, and analog watch and a TV with no remote.
Then leave diredtions on how to use in cursive.
