I ice skated for the first time at Provo, Utah, November 2009 with some friends and their friends. Didn’t fall on my toosh, but it was difficult (and a little fun).
spent the better part of 40 winters on skates and wish my knees would still let me. the windmilling thing only happened when i did it deliberately. it doesn’t seem to occur naturally, you just go splat - until you learn to balance.
I didn’t learn how to skate (other than cling to the boards and wobble) until I was 39. Now I play on a hockey team and love it! Just wish I’d learned as a kid.
When my kids took lessons at the city rinks, the first thing they taught them to do was fall down safely! And then get up. But after that, they rarely seemed to fall.
I’m from Kansas we didn’t gain an ice rink until maybe high risk guess 10-20 years ago. (Anyone from the local area can feel free to disagree I’m not sure when the ice rink was built.) Where as skating rink has been around for a long time. Our mom would not allow us to roller skate afraid we would get hurt. Now I can only dream of any type of skating too old. So far our weather has been pleasant expecting snow Wed. Good night all.

Up here in Michigan, we ice skate everyday. It’s called walking to and from your car.
