Peter: I think what you're doing to Dad is cruel. Andy: Asking him to go one morning without coffee? Peter: Asking him to go one morning without a coffee in this house. Andy: Why would he be any better off someplace else? Roger: Son, you're (crunch) sure this is (crunch) cereal I'm eating? Jason: Absolutely. More milk?

He’d be better off somewhere he could get some coffee!
Then he could put Jason up for adoption!

Uncooked macaroni and vinegar?! YUCK!!!
If I were as mean as Jason there, I’d do powdered dish detergent (to pretend they’re Grape Nuts) and soy sauce.

I’ve never been to Starbucks (really), but if I were dad, I’d sure go there until Andie buys more coffee!

It’s okay for him to get coffee outside, she never said otherwise. But she’s not buying coffee because she’s responsible for the groceries and she doesn’t want to be responsible for his addictive behavior.

dkram - I was thinking the same thing. Dad can stop at Wataburger on the way to work. I’ve done it lots of times.

Man, even if I don’t have my coffee in the mornings, all I get is a slight caffeine headache, nothing so major as not knowing what I’m eating…. ouch…

Apparently cruelness runs in the family.
Roger, NEVER trust your kids with no coffee first, than then trust them only 5%. Maybe.

I usually only drink one or two cups a day, but I want those one or two cups! I bet Andi has her own little addictions she has no problems feeding. And exactly what negative effects on their family does his coffee drinking have? It seems to me a small concession for the man she supposedly loves. It still sounds like arrogance (of the “I know what’s best for you” type).
BTW, I may be the only person here who admits to actually liking Starbucks coffee. Don’t drink it much, but at $1.50 a cup, I can afford it on occasion. And McDonald’s? Please! I will never go there again because of the garbage it passes off as food. People here rave about Dunkin Donuts coffee, too, but every time I try it, it tastes like dark water.

This is a nuclear attack without an early “I’m not getting the coffee” warning system.

“THEY CAME FIRST for the cigarettes, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a smoker.
THEN THEY CAME for the joints, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a toker.
THEN THEY CAME for the coffee, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a caffeine fiend.
THEN THEY CAME for my teddy bear and by that time everyone else was too withdrawn to speak up.”

I love my coffee, and if I was dad i would have been dressed and out of there to the nearest coffee place. But it wouldn’t be Starbucks, I would drink gas stop store coffee before that. First it’s way to much money (it;s around $3 a cup here) and second they just don’t know how to do a plain cup o’ joe. McDonald’s has a good coffee and here it’s only $1 for any size you order (they have a great large unsweeten or sweet Iced Tea for $1 also) I do love Dunkin;s but I will say that the flavor can change from store to store. We have 4 of them within a 2 mile radius and I will go to the one that’s farthest away as it taste best there.

There’s nothing like a good cup of coffee after a good workout and 5-mile run at 5 AM in the morning.

mmmm, that cereal sure tastes like on of Andi’s casseroles.

Pursuant to photoman022, Andy has an addiction to soy curd. Maybe she should try withdrawing from that. Can’t hurt anything - tofu tastes pretty much like nothing at all.
I like Starbucks coffee, too. Especially bottled and chilled Mocha Frappuchino. I like my own recipe of CocoMocha even better (Starbucks VIA and Mocha Cocoa in coconut milk, almond milk or rice milk - the fluid needs to have vanilla too).
McD’s mocha will do in a pinch, like gasoline and ethanol, as will Burger King’s - but it isn’t just the gall of the franchise that makes Starbucks as pricey as it is. It’s because they actually care about their products, so far as I’ve ever had them.
