Yeah, like, what’s record? (Oh, good grief.)

A disc made of vinyl which was used to play back sounds….but that’s not important now.

Forget records, he’s probably lucky if he knows what CD’s are in this day and age of digital music. Meanwhile, I’ve got a teenaged niece who not only knows what records are, but she actually owns some. There are some people born in the ’80’s and later who DO know about those things. TV, movies, and the like just LOVE to harp on people’s ignorance about past innovations in music, phones, etc.

I still have a box of those ten or twelve inch black things that break when you drop them on th floor

Keep in mind that this strip dates back from the early 2000’s. Actually my teenage sons know more about LP’s – now that they are going through a revival of sorts which will surely be short-lived – than about CD’s.

I’m an old timer. I still talk about “taping” shows.

I still remember the days when telephone signals came out of a wire in the wall, and television came via the airwaves.

Nowadays we don’t even have to beg for this stuff; so many things are capable of playing mp3s. I know of a rice cooker that plays music whenever it’s finished.
