Hmm, I don’t usually notice it in this strip, but isn’t Jason being unusually disrespectful here to ask his mother, “Are you insane?” I think most parents and definitely most teachers would punish a young person for that. I had the most permissive mother imaginable, and even she would have at the least given me a strong verbal reprimand if I had spoken to her that way at Jason’s age. I guess maybe Andi knows her son and doesn’t take it as intentional disrespect, but rather his own dramatic way of expressing himself.
