Must have been Katrina.

This must have been around the time that Katrina hit.

Yes, this strip was originally published on Sept. 12, 2005, a couple of weeks after Katrina hit New Orleans.

The parts that they would have visited as tourists are back to feeling alive and wonderful again.

It’s actually improved compared to before Katrina (cleaner and safer).

I didn’t understand the punch line at first. Now I do.

It isn’t really safer, sadly. And with the gentrification going on there now, New Orleans is losing it’s joie de vivre.

Why would I care how “alive and wonderful” their honeymoon was?

As long as Brownie’s doing a heckuva job, everything will be fine.

I was there a few months ago. Smells a bit like garbage and the sidewalks are all beat up. I also had a great time.

I wonder if this one was picked to reference all the flooding in Louisiana recently.
