Don’t watch Sum of All Fears. That one knocked me right out of my chair.

On a similar note I once saw a student’s car stopped at a traffic light behind a local community college. The “music” was so loud that the door panels vibrated with each bass note. There were a lot of bass notes!

Sadly, because of the low frequency, it’s difficult to tell precisely where the sound is coming from (this is why you can put your sub-woofer anywhere in the house, and in the trunk of your car), so when you’re stopped at a light in traffic you can’t tell whom to shoot. (Is “whom” right there? It sounds awkward.)

We were in company training and a car stopped at the light was so loud we had to wait. We all got up and went to the window to look because we were on the 10th floor.

And to think at one time I was amazed at a 21" black and white TV, complete with Two stations to chose from.

200W isn’t actually that much for a home theater subwoofer. As I type this, I have a 290W, 10" sub only about 4 feet from my—feet.

This strip is probably from 20 or 30 years ago, so was more impressive back then. And back then, you could order a pair of huge speakers mail-order, nicknamed ‘Thunder Lizards’, after the Brontosaurus of course. The ad said you could recreate the awesome power of an earthquake right in your own living room. And they had a picture of part of a living room wall blown out. The company was ‘DAK’, or maybe ‘DEK’, and sadly went extinct, along with their earth-quaking ‘Thunder Lizard’ speakers!
