That’s because at the root of it all, greed is a base human emotion and difficult to conquer. That’s why all economic systems (in reality, not in theory) ultimately tend toward failure. Eliminate greed (and its evil cousin, corruption) and a fair system can be achieved, but alas, that’s not possible.
Scripture doesn’t say that greed can be kind of bad. It says it’s the ROOT of ALL EVIL. It calls greed idolatry – which means it breaks the FIRST commandment. Jesus said you can’t serve God and Mammon – it’s impossible.
And yet, a whole lot of Christians who talk about the Bible all the time seem to think that it’s not a sin at all. In fact, they try to pretend it’s a virtue.
" Walmart thrives on the idea that customers should get a good value, so bringing in a large supply for a very cheap price without government intervention and then selling those products for reasonable prices allows customers to achieve a certain level of satisfaction that Adam Smith would certainly make note of. "
Necessity is the mother of invention, while greed is the father of destruction. Greed is an addiction, possibly even genetically inherited, but is not recognized as a disease, nor are there support groups, medications, or any vaccines in development.
I’ve one more thing to whine about; in so much of America Capitalism is the religion. Christianity, Islam and Judaism have all been replaced by the God Adam Smith. And the Christians, Jews and Muslims that worship Adam Smith instead of God are blind to their own apostasy.

The economy is like the weather – it does as it wishes, no matter what the experts say. (Same thing when the baby is due.)

We recognize hoarding as a mental illness. Unless one hoards money. Then it’s “freedom.”
