Please forgive me then, sometimes It’s hard for me to find something witty or funny to say. So I may type the wrong thing I didn’t mean to offend anyone. I guess I just saw the comic wrong. I saw a guy sitting in a recliner,food on the floor drink in one hand remote in another sitting way to close to a tv and not bothering to get up and answer the door. So what was I supposed to think?

when Opportunity knocks, answer the door. This guy didn’t answer the door when Opportunity knocked. Ladywolf and Charlie, the is validity in both your observations.

Opportunity never bit me, per se, but it has trampled me on its way to get to someone else.

He’s already living the American Dream. He’s just being cautious. Why risk losing it? Every opportunity has risks & benefits. Greed and wanting more than you need might not be something he’s comfortable with. The definition of success varies from person to person.

it’s all in what you read into it. some might call it suspicion rather than fear. “if it’s to good to be true, it’s probably not true” is an axiom for a very good reason. (and how many of us are bombarded with “opportunities” at every turn? Spam comes to mind.
