Caulfield: It's a philosophy called Occam's razor. "Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate": "Plurality should not be posited without necessity." Meaning the simplest explanation is generally the preferred one. Frazz: I don't think answering quiz questions with "because I said so" is what William of Occam had in mind. Caulfield: Well, that's how Mrs. Olsen answers half my questions.
“Preferred” does not necessarily mean “correct”.
