Girl says, "Boy, I sure wouldn't wait till it was nine days old to flush it." Frazz says, "That's not what 'pease porridge in the pot' means."

The word for “pea” used to be “pease.” It sounded too much like a plural, so people changed it to “pea.” Good old linguistic change.
