Frazz, you know as well as I do, that nobody ‘round these parts pronounces it the way it is spelt! It’s “Feb-uary” here in Michigan..Or sometimes Feberary………..Nisirrom, thanks..I didn’t know that…

My understanding was that this too is due to Julius and Augustus Caesar, who swiped a couple of days from February so that the months named for them wouldn’t be shorter than, say, January or March.

Proper pronunciation of the name of the month is feb-ru-ary, not the more common feb-you-ary. I don’t think most people get tired of saying it correctly; they get tired of being corrected when they mispronounce it.

Well, I’ve demoted it to Febuary. Alert the media.

In Canada, the first r gets pronounced, as does the second syllable in Wednesday.
