School is not about social relationships between students and teachers. Learning is not about negotiating about assignments. Learning is about putting your mind to work on the subject matter so that it sinks into your brain. It is not about working on your teacher to avoid that process. Caulfield, like many people in the real world, is clueless about that. Funny as the strip is, it also highlights deficient education.

With all of his intelligence, Caulfield still doesn’t get the teacher/student schema.

Caulfield is very smart and so is bored with teaching aimed at the slowest in the room. He needs some advanced lessons to hold his interest.

What the heck would be his grading “schedule”?
