Use a VERY long hose and pile blankets over the vacuum cleaner. (also, do it when the dog and cat are away)

She’s half way to her “folk engineering” degree already: If it moves and it shouldn’t… DUCK TAPE . Now she just needs to learn If it doesn’t move and it should… WD40.

Oh, and just in case I’m not preaching only to the choir: It is not “duct” tape: It’s terrible at the job of sealing ducts because it dries out. It’s Duck™ tape, a brand name that has come, from common usage, to mean that whole category of tape products. It was first used during WW II to seal ammo cans, so I’m told.

Real “duct” tape, these days, is a layer of thin aluminum bonded to a very stick layer that is in turn protected by a waxy layer that can be pulled off the stickum.

Stick the hose on the other end of the vacuum, it’ll play a different chord.

You might want to tape a duct, but i doubt you would want to tape a duck

In the child’s second bubble is that unedited repetition or some subtlety that escapes me?

Concretionist, my uncle was a USAAF aviation mechanic with the 8th Air Force in WW2. He told me and my cousins that the original duct tape was repurposed from sealing ductwork to patching holes in aircraft shot up by bullets or shrapnel. It was the same original color as the aluminum skin of a B-17 and could be painted over several times, and restored the aerodynamics of the damaged aircraft.

Her English isn’t quite up to snuff. It’s one or the other, not both. You can say"one step closer …." or “That acceptance letter ….”
