I played field hockey in middle school here in the US (grades 7-8). Never saw it played in high school. I played right wing. :o)
contralto2bIn the US, it has been relegated to girls’ PE classes. At the Olympic level, it is a men’s sport, dominated by countries of colonial India and those with major immigrant populations therefrom.
Would that it could replace golf.
Golf as contact sport…
Field hockey is definitely more a schoolgirls’ game in the US, but there are a few men’s field-hockey teams at the university level.
(I think my wife and I are the only people in history to have seen productions of “Daisy Pulls It Off” on both sides of the Atlantic.)
