Apparently having opened the doors of perception, Percival mistook up for down quite frequently. It was actually a credit to his equanimity that he managed to maintain a roughly equivalent head space relative to that of his fellows.
It was times like these, when the world seemed upside down, in which Percival would think back to before he became Brother Percival, when he was just little Robert, living in the shadow of the madness of his Aunt Betty and Uncle Harry. Harry was clearly an alcoholic with many self-destructive impulses, once driving his riding lawn mower onto the expressway going the wrong way, waving a machete and singing We Shall Overcome. Betty was more prone to pills and self mutilation, having many fine scars in hidden places, all from cutting herself with a razor, just to feel something.
It should be noted in moments such as these, that Percival, young Robert, Betty and Harry are wholly fabricated characters who probably bear no resemblance to any persons living or dead. Or so one hopes.

If today’s FA commenters form a band, it should be named B.O. Gets It and the Lost Literalists
