The fact that it’s in Latin tells us that it’s something lawyers use to keep us thinking that we’re so dumb we need to pay them a lot of money to help us. Ipso Facto. Quid hoc ergo propter hoc. Quid pro quo. Nihil obstat. etcetera. Honestly, I think lawyers do this to impress us enough that we think we’re actually worth the humongous (not Latin?) fees they charge.
