“Junior” must have sonar built into him. No matter where he is, when the food container is opened even ever so quietly, with five seconds(I timed it) he is in the kitchen politely asking for food. She on the other hand has a routine and only when that is done does she come in to eat.
Abbie Tabby, my dear friend’s cat, is ever so sweet when I put something in the garbage. She has a bag of kitty food on top of it and when it crinkles miss Abbie comes sashaying over for a treat with her tail up with the little curl at the end that say;s “I love you” and the cute faces she make. According to Abbie’s person, that’s the only place she can’t get into it.
I also had a roommate whose 3 dogs listened to me but not to her. When she entered the kitchen while I was having my meal she asked me how I managed to get the dogs to behave so well. I said I talk to them, and told her how, what they listen to.
When I entered the kitchen while she was eating, the maltese was on the table and the other 2 had their forepaws up on it as she gave little nibbles of food to them while she ate.
One day I fell and hit my head really hard, went to lay down my room with an ice pack and when I got up I couldn’t open my door because the golden retriever was laying against it, if he could he would’ve been in my room comforting me.
When I moved out to my own apartment I grieved for those dogs, their miserable existence, in a mansion, sure but with someone who kept them as a status symbol and nothing else. She wasn’t affectionate with them at all.
HA! Just like my dog. He can be in the deepest sleep but if he hears the “Snick” sound of the fridge opening, he has the ability to suddenly appear underfoot. He must have a transporter.

Kate, you’ve made me hungry, too. What’s to eat?
And, by the way, you’ve got to improve your sneak attack technique because you didn’t fool anyone.

They have excellent hearing.
Monroe comes trotting into the kitchen when anyone goes in there. He still loves riding my walker.

Never underestimate a fur-babies hearing, no matter what time it is.

Our dogs didn’t usually respond to the refrigerator door opening. but crinkle a bag of potato chips and it was almost like Scotty beamed them in.

Mine just gather to trip me if I go through the kitchen on the way to the bathroom.

LOL! Nothing gets past them!
Tigger does the same. He could be napping and as soon I walk in the kitchen, he’s right there! ☺️☺️

Make one sound in the kitchen and suddenly, your pets get hungry.

My dog is sleeping off our trip today, but if I even think much about standing up, she will follow me. Just in case. I haven’t had any dinner yet.
