An Irish friend (the same one who helped with this strip) sent me this blessing when I was ill: “In life, there are only two things to worry about, either you are well, or you are sick. If you are well, there is nothing to worry about, but if you are sick, you have two things to worry about; either you will live, or you will die. If you live, there is nothing to worry about, if you die, you have two things to worry about; you will either go up, or down. If you go up, there is nothing to worry about, but if you go down, you’ll be so busy shaking hands with your friends, you won’t have time to worry!”
I wore a green shirt under my required jacket in the hospital today with my dog, who refuses to wear anything besides her collar and leash. I need to get a green leash for next year, since I am almost entirely Irish and have the red hair to prove it. Bunny was exceptionally on point and full of energy today, trying hard to see as many people as she could. We walked in one patient room and his mother said, “Oh look! You just said last night that petting a dog would really cheer you up! Two dogs!” The young man petted the golden from the bed, and with permission I put Bunny on the bed with him, and he really did seem to perk right up with our dogs. I wish I could say my beagle is Irish, and it’s not impossible, but I don’t have her papers. The hunter I got her from kept the papers, and really, I don’t need them. He does, as he will be breeding from her line, and I had her spayed. She had puppies several times before I adopted her. Someday I will adopt one (or more) of her descendants.
Shawm and Stella are really decked out for the holiday and obviously are proud of their costumes. Mrs Oldman is beyond delighted to be joining them. I can picture their visits with the patients – everyone will be so happy and Shawm and Stella and Mrs Oldman will fall asleep in a puppy pile with Floof and Sirius when they return home!
Perfect pet therapy for this retiree who still lives in my own home! Shawm’s shamrock deely bobber and “Kiss me I’m Irish” badge made me smile. Mrs. Oldman’s attire made me laugh out loud. Happy St. Patrick’s Day, and thanks Ms. Nancy!

Floof is at home no doubt testing the luck of the Irish.

That’s an Afghan Hound, not an Irish Setter.

Please don’t let your animals drink the green beer: the dye is not good for them…

Seriously though, LOL, ’Shenanigan’s’ is not a name I would give to a retirement, care home. Retiree’s tend to be overly mischievous already.
Shawm, Stella and Mrs. Oldman look like they’re in a scene from A Doctor Suess film. Cute!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all. Yes, today I am Irish!
My late, great boy, Marcel, would be 40 today. Posted his kitten and adult pics on Fb.

Green bagel or doughnut with green frosting? I’ll enjoy either.

To add to Bill Löhr’s post above: Not familiar with the Irish expression “the craic”, I found this site:
