OK, now I’m somewhat anti-Nina! But, two people in their 90’s should be able to handle this themselves!

Too bad they didn’t hypnotize Nina.

Actually,I believe that Skeezix is 93 and Nina is about the same. After all, they started dating in high school and got married just before he went in the Army and was shipped overseas during World War II. This family is extremely long lived too. Walt is 114 and Phyllis was a Lieutenant in World War I before she met Walt meaning she was probably in her 20s when the war was over making her a year or more older than Walt. Since her sister was Skeezix’s mother, he inherited whatever genes were in her family. Gee, makes you wonder if Walt and Phyllis were related as well—both families seem to have a leaning toward longivity. All this to say that Skeezix and Nina are both over 110 years old.

Whoops, I mistyped. That 110 should have been 93. If my dad were alive, he would be 9 in September.

I think that Nina keeps mentioning the 3 girls in Skeeziks’ past is not out of jealousy, but to prove to Skeeziks that he actually was hypnotized. After all, how else would Nina know about them?

Aww, she’s just razzing him— and showing she cares at the same time. I posted late yesterday a link to a Sally appearance in 1930: http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x472/tentpaw/gasolinealley05171930.jpg

Nina and Skeezix met in a strip dated 7/06/36. Skeezix asked Nina if she needed a lift as she walked down a country road and the rest is GA history. Wondering why all this sudden nostalgia and realize it will be the 70th wedding anniversary June 28th.

Skeezix sure has had a great night. Missed his ball game, got hypnotized and ridiculed, car won’t start, and now his wife is on him about something from his distant past.

The “old routine” is running out of gas, not being unable to start the car.

Is Skeezix going to fix the car, call Slim, or call AAA?

Oh, the memories! As long as Nina doesn’t physically attack Skeezix while he is sleeping, I guess being married to someone like that is doable. Yes, it is just a comic strip. Remember those romance comic books where the woman was always slapping the man in her life and her sister?

The memories are from the King days of gentle characters that you cared about, The current reflects meaner more shallow characters with force fed corn prone humor.

Sounds like my mother’s side of the tribe, one aunt in particular. She never let my uncle forget a girlfriend of the early 1900’s.. Cause of death: “because he WANTED to !” No fun married to a shrew.

Nina’s reaction makes me think she was the one who cheated.

@ don bearden – I was always under the impression that Skeezix was adopted, Walt having found him in a basket on his doorstep. That’s the story line I recall. Is there more to the history that I’m not aware of?

I like the shading particularly in the first panel. Very nice artwork.
