    The coin is some kind of souvenir token. Those early coins did not have a date. Even if they did. It would not be 64 but VXIV .

    Actual Roman coins may not have had a year on them but it’s expedient to the story to pretend that they did and we are obviously here for the cane. The coin was just a device for the author to get Skeezix to the shop.
